What has your career been like to date?:
I’ve been at Street Crane for the last nine years but prior to that I worked in insurance for 10 years.
When I joined Street, I spent a year as a sales representative and then six months out on the road. As I didn’t have any previous technical experience or product knowledge, it was a steep learning curve but Street provided me with all the support and training I needed.
I’ve since managed to expand our client base for components from the UK into Europe, increasing sales by around £2million per year.
What are your main responsibilities?
I manage a team of three sales people based across the UK and Northern Ireland, and I also manage client relationships in the Midlands.
I make sure that enquiries are progressed, quotes are processed quickly and ultimately that we win orders and meet our targets. As part of this, I work hard to build relationships with our customers, responding to their requests and making sure that they are provided with the right products to meet their needs.
What do you like about working for Street?
Street is a company that is willing to invest in its staff and that continues to grow - this in turn provides new opportunities to develop your career. Training and support is ongoing, for example, I am currently taking part in the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) course.
I also get to travel, see different and interesting parts of the world and each day is different, so there’s never a dull moment!
