Overhead cranes – commonly referred to as bridge cranes – are designed to lift and move heavy loads horizontally within a defined work area. They consist of parallel runways supported by the building structure, with a traveling bridge spanning between them. A hoist mounted on the bridge provides vertical lifting motion while traversing along the bridge for precise load positioning.

Single Girder Overhead
Single girder cranes are the most popular type of overhead crane, offering a cost-effective lifting solution for capacities up to 28 tons and suitability for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Street’s top-running single girder cranes deliver the same reliability and performance as larger crane configurations, while generating lower wheel loads. This reduces building and structural support requirements, resulting in lower installation costs and an attractive price-to-performance ratio.
Depending on the application, Street single girder cranes are equipped with either Street ZX electric wire rope hoists or our LX electric chain hoists. LX chain hoists are typically used for very low capacities or when a highly competitive, cost-focused solution is required.
Double Girder Overhead
Double girder cranes can be engineered to fit within the roof space of a building, making them ideal where maximum lifting height is a primary requirement.
The trolley design of a double girder crane also provides improved side hook approach compared to a single girder crane, particularly in applications requiring greater lift heights.
Double girder cranes are available in capacities up to 90 tons equipped with our ZX electric wire rope hoists and up to 250 tons using our heavier duty VX open hoist. Our top running double girders cranes are designed to run on either four or eight long travel wheels depending on capacity, rail size and duty.
