Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title:                         Electrical Design Engineer
Reports to:                     Electrical Design Manager
Business:                        Street Crane
Department:                 Technical (Cranes and Components)
Expected Salary:          35k to 45k
 
JOB ROLE OVERVIEW

  • Specification of electrical components/wiring/cabling
  • Control panel design
  • Create parameter sets for variable frequency drives
  • Create and maintain electrical drawings and documentation
  • Work with shop floor team to commission and fault find new equipment
  • Support junior engineers, installation team and end customers
  • Product development
  • Validate new designs through prototyping
  • Drive improvements in quality and efficiency within the technical department
  • Communicate effectively across departments and disciplines
  • Work within company quality and safety procedures

 
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:

  • Qualified to HNC Level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Comfortable with variable frequency drives and PLC’s
  • Capable of using CAD software to create electrical schematics
  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Comfortable interacting across the business
  • Confident discussing projects with various stakeholders
  • Able to work from heights for occasional site visits
  • Able to manage own workload in a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar industry
  • Zuken E3 experience
  • Experience working to National/European Standards (e.g. BS EN 60204, UL508)
  • Experience working in the crane/hoist sector or similar material handling environments
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety
