Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Reports to: Electrical Design Manager
Business: Street Crane
Department: Technical (Cranes and Components)
Expected Salary: 35k to 45k
JOB ROLE OVERVIEW
- Specification of electrical components/wiring/cabling
- Control panel design
- Create parameter sets for variable frequency drives
- Create and maintain electrical drawings and documentation
- Work with shop floor team to commission and fault find new equipment
- Support junior engineers, installation team and end customers
- Product development
- Validate new designs through prototyping
- Drive improvements in quality and efficiency within the technical department
- Communicate effectively across departments and disciplines
- Work within company quality and safety procedures
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Qualified to HNC Level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Comfortable with variable frequency drives and PLC’s
- Capable of using CAD software to create electrical schematics
- Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Excel
- Comfortable interacting across the business
- Confident discussing projects with various stakeholders
- Able to work from heights for occasional site visits
- Able to manage own workload in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar industry
- Zuken E3 experience
- Experience working to National/European Standards (e.g. BS EN 60204, UL508)
- Experience working in the crane/hoist sector or similar material handling environments
- Knowledge of Functional Safety
