Overhead cranes, also known as Bridge cranes are vital for lifting and transporting heavy loads horizontally within a specific area. They consist of a parallel runway with a travelling bridge spanning the gap. The hoist which is the lifting component, travels along the bridge. Overhead cranes are commonly used in industrial environments such as manufacturing plants and warehouses to efficiently and safely transport materials. They are excellent at covering large areas and providing precise load control.

Where the building structure cannot support the loads imposed by an overhead runway, a gantry crane can provide an alternative solution. Supported by its own leg structure, it can deliver effective lifting coverage without relying on the building frame for full crane support.

All of our single girder and double girder overhead cranes use pre-engineered components where possible which provides you with the most economical lifting solution.

Our Overhead Cranes

Single Girder Overhead

Single girder cranes are our most popular type of overhead crane. They provide the most cost-effective lifting solution for all capacities up to 25 tonnes and are suitable for indoor or outdoor applications. Our top running single girder solutions deliver the same levels of reliability and performance as all of our other cranes but the lower wheel loads of a single girder have lower building and structural support costs associated with them and therefore offer a more attractive price to performance ratio.

Depending on your application our single girder cranes incorporate either Street ZX electric wire rope hoists or our LX electric chain hoists at very low capacities or when an extra competitive solution is required.

Double Girder Overhead

Double girder cranes can be engineered into the roof space within a building where the maximum lifting height is a primary requirement inside a building. The crab/trolley on a double girder can also provide better side hook approaches than a single girder crane particularly where large lifting heights are specified.

Double girder cranes are available in capacities up to 80 tonnes equipped with our ZX electric wire rope hoists and up to 250 tonnes using our heavier duty VX open hoist. Our top running double girders are designed to run on either four or eight long travel wheels depending on the allowable wheel loads, and multiple trolley gauges are available to accommodate different lifting heights.
