Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SMIL), formerly known as Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd, is one of India’s most prominent multinational automotive component manufacturers, operating across global markets from its headquarters in Noida. The company delivers an exceptionally broad product range, including wiring harnesses, rear‑view mirrors, interior and exterior moulded plastic components, bumpers, dashboards, door trims, complete polymer modules, rubber components, precision‑machined metal parts and injection‑moulding tools. As a trusted supplier to many of the world’s leading automotive OEMs, SMIL is recognised for its high‑volume, technically advanced production capabilities.
To maintain this level of performance, SMIL requires material‑handling equipment that can support continuous, high‑frequency manufacturing with absolute reliability. With production lines operating at scale and demanding consistent throughput, the company sought a partner able to deliver robust, efficient and adaptable lifting solutions. This is where Street Crane’s engineered lifting systems play a vital role—providing the strength, precision and durability SMIL needs to keep its global operations running smoothly.
SMIL needed robust heavy-duty cranes for handling moulds in its automotive component plants. The requirements included:
High-capacity double girder cranes for mould lifting and placement.
Reliable Street hoists rated for M6 duty to withstand continuous operation.
Custom crane structures to suit existing plant layouts and extended bay lengths.
A trusted partner for execution across multiple plant locations in India.

As Street Crane’s authorised hoist distributor in India, Visdil Ventures Private Limited partnered with Cranesmith Services Private Limited to deliver complete turnkey lifting solutions for SMIL across multiple manufacturing sites. The first phase of the project focused on SMIL’s North India facility, where the team supplied and commissioned a 15‑tonne double girder crane fitted with a Street ZX08 hoist rated to M6 duty. The smooth performance and reliability of this installation quickly established confidence with the customer, setting the foundation for further expansion.
Building on the success of Phase 1, Phase 2 involved supplying a 30/15‑tonne double girder crane for SMIL’s South India plant. This system incorporated both Street ZX10 and ZX08 M6‑duty hoists and was engineered to handle heavy moulds while accommodating a 30‑metre extended bay length. Key features delivered across both phases included high‑duty hoists designed for continuous, high‑frequency operation, custom‑engineered crane structures precisely integrated with SMIL’s facility layouts, and the proven reliability of Street technology under demanding production conditions. With Visdil Ventures providing the Street hoists and Cranesmith designing and executing the EOT structures, SMIL received a fully coordinated, end‑to‑end lifting solution.

Following the successful delivery of both project phases, SMIL experienced several measurable improvements across productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.

Strong performance at the North India plant led SMIL to place an additional order for its South India facility.
Faster, safer mould handling reduced downtime and improved overall throughput.
Reliable Street hoists minimised risk during heavy‑mould handling, protecting both personnel and equipment.
SMIL’s decision to repeat and scale up the order reflects confidence in the Visdil–Cranesmith partnership and in Street’s hoist technology.
