Bespoke portal, Goliath and semi-portal crane systems from 1t to 200t

80 Years’ Expertise in Designing Gantry, Goliath and Semi-Portal Cranes.
A gantry crane is the ideal solution when your facility lacks the structural capacity for overhead runways, when you need efficient material handling in open yards, or when expanding production without modifying existing buildings. Our gantry crane range includes portal, Goliath and semi-portal cranes in single and double girder configurations.
Street Crane designs and manufactures bespoke gantry crane systems engineered around your exact lifting capacity, span, duty cycle, and site constraints: ensuring safe movement, reliable performance, and simple long-term maintainability.
Whether integrated into existing factory floors or deployed in heavy-duty outdoor environments, every system is built to your specifications and powered by our proven ZX electric wire rope hoists, VX open hoists, or LX electric chain hoists.
Get clear, practical guidance from Street Crane engineers before committing to your project: book a free site consultation today to specify the exact gantry crane system required to meet your operational needs.

A gantry crane is a critical production asset, not an off-the-shelf purchase. The wrong specification can restrict workflow, increase structural costs and create avoidable downtime.
Street Crane brings nearly 80 years of lifting expertise to complex gantry crane projects, combining UK engineering capability with the accountability of a family-owned manufacturer. Our team works with you from the earliest stage to assess capacity, span, hook height, floor conditions, building interfaces, duty cycle and maintenance access, so the final crane fits your site as well as your load.
With gantry, Goliath and semi-portal cranes available from 1t to 200t, we design around the realities of heavy industry: safe movement, reliable uptime, practical installation and long-term value. Advanced control using Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), proven hoist technology and serviceable component layouts help protect performance throughout the life of the crane.
You get direct, technically informed guidance from people who understand structural loading, production risk and the cost of downtime.

Can a gantry crane be used if my building cannot support an overhead crane?
Yes. This is one of the main reasons to choose a gantry crane. Because a gantry crane is supported by its own leg structure, it can be used where the building frame is not suitable for overhead crane loads. Floor conditions, rail design and load paths still need to be assessed before specification.
Will a gantry crane require floor reinforcement?
It depends on the crane capacity, span, wheel loads, rail arrangement and existing floor condition. Heavy-duty gantry cranes may require civil works or foundation design. Street Crane assesses these requirements during the specification stage so the crane and site are considered together.
What is the difference between a gantry crane and a semi-portal crane?
A full gantry or portal crane is supported by legs on both sides, usually travelling on floor-level rails. A semi-portal crane has one side supported at floor level and the other side supported by a high-level rail, often attached to an existing structure.
What capacity gantry cranes does Street Crane offer?
Street Crane portal and semi-portal cranes are available from 1 tonne to 200 tonnes, with single girder designs up to 25 tonnes and double girder designs up to 200 tonnes.
Can a gantry crane be used outdoors?
Yes. Portal and Goliath cranes are often used outdoors in stockyards, precast yards, boatyards and open industrial handling areas. Outdoor operation requires the right structural design, environmental protection and maintenance planning.
